Come and see us at the Creative Living Expo 15th - 17th February

It's Expo time again! Many of you will remember that in June last year I was part of a group of Stampin'Up demonstrators that had a stand at the Papercrafts Festival at Homebush. Well we loved working together so much that we are doing it again, and this time we will have a stand at the Creative Living Expo at Rosehill over 3 days - the 15th - 17th February, 2008. We will have a gorgeous display of cards, layouts and Off the Page items, and we will be there running demonstrations, meeting customers and assisting anyone who would like to make a card with us. (Wait til you see the card... it's really cute!) There will also be show specials to take advantage of, and we are really lucky to have the opportunity to run a workshop at the show this time. Here's a sneak peek of what we will be making in the workshop...

It's called the "Maze Book" and the ones that we will be making at the show will look at bit different to this, but this is my take on it. They are ultra cute and a lot of fun to make. If you are planning to make it to the show, check out the Creative Living website here. You can also save $5 should you buy your tickets online instead of at the door. And if you are going as a group, the saving is even more. Check it out.

It will be a lot of fun so I hope to see you there!

BTW, for those girls in the Stamp Club, we will be making these at our next Club night too.

How Amazing is this?

The more I have to do with Stampin'Up, the more I am amazed by their genorosity. A few months back you will remember that they donated the total sales from the "All in the Family" stamp set to a beautiful cause. Just yesterday in my mail box I received a new career plan to do with my SU business. It means lots of new bonuses and incentives from SU for demonstrators, and it will make so much difference to our family. Im really excited.

Then today I saw this article about an amazing thing that SU did for their local National Guard members in Utah, where SU's head office is based. Put the following address in your browser and check it out...

http://www.ksl.com/?nid=148&sid=2502054

Really really amazing, and another example of what kind of company they are! I so love being associated with them!

See you soon :)

That last card...

Just realized that I didnt put up any details at all about the card that I showed on the last post. It's a cute little card... for some reason I am really liking little square cards at the moment. This one uses the Big Blooms set from the current Summer Mini Catalogue (click here to see it). Across the bottom of the card I used Cool Carribean Cardstock (CS) and layered it over the dotty "Loves Me" Double sided paper(DSP). The scalloped edge on the Certainly Celery CS is made using Stampin'Up's Corner Rounder with the paper guide removed. (Contact me if you need instructions on how to do this) I pierced the holes along the edge of the Cool Carribean CS with the Mat pack template. So easy, but really effective. Then I stamped the medium sized flower from the Big Blooms set in Rose Red ink onto Whisper White Cardstock, then cut it out. I punched the middle out of the flower with a 1&3/8" punch, and put a piece of Old Olive CS behind it. Then I punched a piece of Au Chocolat DSP with the smaller 1&1/4" punch, attached it to a clear button, and threaded some Turquoise grosgrain ribbon through the holes. The button was positioned as the flower centre and I stamped "Happy Birthday" at the bottom.

If there is anything here that you have any questions about, or you would like to order anything from the catalogues, please feel free to email me at higgiz@bigpond.com or call me on 0412 375 552.

And dont forget the Free Ink pad special ends tomorrow night.

Artfully Asian Card

Hello Guys,

Just wanted to show you what some of the stuff I've been making... I'll have quite a few items to show you over the next few weeks. I recently got myself this set after swapping with another Demonstrator (one of the perks... when I find Im not using a set as much anymore I can put it up for trade on the Demonstrator Forum that Im a member of. Its usually not too hard to find someone willing to trade!). I have really been enjoying this set. It's called Artfully Asian, and here I've used it with the Rough Texture Wheel. The background is created by stamping the French Script background stamp and then scrunching the cardstock up with your hands. Once you have squished it good and proper, flatten it out again. Now take your classic ink pad and simply rub it gently over the cardstock piece. The ink will pick up all the higher points on your scrunched piece of cardstock... it's really easy to do, and looks great.
Here's the SU products that I used for this card:
Artfully Asian Set
French Script Background stamp
Rough Texture Jumbo Wheel
Mellow Moss Cardstock
Chocoate Chip Cardstock
Close to Cocoa Cardstock
Sahara Sand Cardstock
Ruby Red Cardstock
Mellow Moss ink
Chocolate Chip Ink
Close to Cocoa Ink
Ribbon Originals Rustic Retreat
Dimensionals

If you would like me to come over and show you some cool techniques and ideas for cards or other papery things, please let me know at higgiz@bigpond.com or call me on 0412 375 552.

And have fun creating.
