Blog Special for first two weeks of January

Images Copyright 1990-2007 Stampin’ Up!

Just a little special for all you bloggers. We have some FANTASTIC specials coming up from the 1st January for all Stampin'Up customers. Each January and February Stampin'Up runs a promotion called "SaleABration" and everybody who deals with SU (customers, hostesses and recruits) in this time is eligible to benefit. EVERY customer who spends $100 on any Stampin'Up product during SaleABration will get to choose a free stamp set from the SaleABration catalogue. This catalogue contains Limited Edition stamp sets only available during these two months. And the sets this year are lovely. As soon as the catalogue is online I will put up a link to it for you. But as a demonstrator I am lucky to get my hands on the sets before everyone else, and so I have started making a few samples, and this cards uses the Friendship blooms set, one of four sets available. It's a simple card, but when you're busy, simple is good! And quick too!

So what's the blog special? For every blog order over $60 received between the 1st and the 14th January I will give you are free Classic ink pad (valued at $9.95rrp) or a single colour Cardstock pack (valued at $10.50rrp). To see the colours available click here to see the catalogue and go to pages 127-129 to see the range of colours available. If your order goes over $100 then you will still receive a free stamp set as well. And there is no limit to the number of free sets you can receive. For every $100, there's another stamp set to be had. (Just bear in mind that you need to place the $100 orders together, so you cant place 2 separate orders for $50. It needs to be a minumum $100 order to qualify for the SaleABration promo.)

So if you've been holding off on your orders waiting for this amazing promotion, now is the time to do it!

Happy New Year!

Competition Closing tomorrow 31st December

Just a quick reminder for anyone who has not entered the little competition to win a roll of SU ribbon. For more details click here. All you have to do is comment here on the blog and let me know which items are your favourites out of the Current Mini Catalogue. Click here if you havent got one to look at. And let me know if you'd like one sent to you... they are free.

Have fun commenting! I hope that you have enjoyed some "downtime" over Christmas. Im just starting to feel like getting back into it again....

Stamp Club 2008

Images Copyright 1990-2007 Stampin’ Up!

2008! Oh my goodness! Where did 2007 go?

Some of you will remember that I ran a Stamp Club last year, and now that the new year is almost upon us, it's time for me to think about this year's club. The format will be a little different this year, but have a quick read through and if you are interested, please let me know at higgiz@bigpond.com or by calling me on 0412 375 552.

Here's the deal....

The club will have 6 members and this year I will be running a class just for club members at my home on the Central Coast, NSW, to be held every second month. The class will be a cool project that I wouldnt normally run as part of a workshop. There is no cost to attend the class, but each member of the club will commit to buying a minimum of $50 worth of Stampin'Up product at each club get together. This means that by being part of the club you are prepared to spend $50 every second month (not including postage). I will also offer "club only" specials from time to time.

But here's the best bit. Each club member will get their turn at being the hostess. That means that even though the classes are at my house, once during the year (given that we will meet 6 times during the course of the year) you will get to be the hostess and receive the hostess benefits for yourself. So you will have your choice of at least a Level 1 hostess set and additional cash to spend depending on the total for the night. How good is that? If you cant make it on the night, you are still welcome to place your order as part of the club.

So if you think you would like to be part of the club, please contact me soon. Because I know how popular these can be, it will be "first in, best dressed". The first one will be held in mid-January and the hostess for that one will be the first person to contact me and book in. Then I will assign the people to "hostess" each club in the order that they book in. If we have too many people (not that you can ever have "too many"!) I will start a second club. By the way, if I have enough people who are further away but still want to be part of the club, then I can start another group for those people.

If you've ever thought you would like to be a workshop hostess but are unable to do it at your place for some reason, this is your chance!

Hope you like these calendars... I have been having fun making them lately. I got the background design idea from Marelle Taylor (thank you Marelle) and found that it translated really well to these mini calendars. Arent they cool?

First Time Published!

I wanted to share my excitement with you... I have just this last week received word that a project that I submitted to Australian Paper Crafts magazine has been accepted! Im so excited! This means that I will be published for my very first time! Unfortunately I cant show you the project.... now that I've accepted their offer to publish my work, Im not allowed to show it here. But that's ok... you will be able to enjoy it in full colour in Issue #77 of their lovely mag. It wont be for a few months yet so you'll have to be patient, but dont worry I'll be sure to let you know when it hits the newsagent's shelves!

Hooray!

In the meantime dont forget the little competition that I've got going (scroll down for more details). I forgot to say previously that the competition will end on the 31st December. I would close it off earlier but Im going to be spending some time over Christmas with my family and so wont be updating as often for a few days.

Competition Time again...

Well Christmas is almost upon us and so I feel that it is time for a little competition.

I have been getting a great response to the new Mini Catalogue, and am hoping to buy myself a couple more items from it that I can demonstrate at my January and February workshops. Here's what I'd like you to do. If you dont already have a copy of the new Mini Catalogue, click here to see it. Have a look through and I'd like to know which item most appeals to you. If I have a good idea of what people like, then it will make it easier for me to choose what to buy to add to my tool kit. Please comment on the blog here with your answer, and make sure that you include your name and email. Alternatively if you are a subscriber (which means you regularly get my updates in your email inbox) I will already have your email address to contact you if you win. If you dont already receive email updates, please consider subscribing (see details on the right hand side of this blog) so that you won't miss specials, competitions or any other updates.

What can you win? Your choice of any roll of ribbon either from the main catalogue or from the Mini. You might have noticed that quite a few of my new cards feature the Wide Grosgrain ribbon and it's just gorgeous. But if you are a fan of the standard grosgrain or the organdy or gingham ribbons, then you could pick one of those too. The choice will be yours should you win!

So come on guys, what will be the big sellers in the New Mini?

*Entry open only to Australian residents but not to other Stampin'Up demonstrators. Although of course other demonstrators are free to comment!

Heartfelt Thanks to you all

Images Copyright 1990-2007 Stampin’ Up!

I just wanted to update you all on the outcome of last month's "All in the Family" promotion. As many of you know, in October Stampin'Up Australia's General Manager Dave Abbott passed away. In a wonderful show of support SU released the "All in the Family" stamp set so that we Demonstrators could get behind it and sell as many of them as possible to raise money for the young family that Dave left behind. 100% of the proceeds from the set went directly to the Abbott family.

The news is in... worldwide sales of this set were amazing - in fact 7538 sets were sold! What an awesome effort. I know personally of one person in Sydney who sold 147 sets herself! Isnt that fantastic!?!

So I would like to thank all of you who purchased this set in November. Thanks to you, the money raised will be going somewhere where it is much needed and appreciated. Thank you so much.

It happened again!

Images Copyright 1990-2007 Stampin’ Up!

OK, Im starting to get cross with Feedblitz now. For the second time in the last week or two I have blogged but Feedblitz hasnt sent it on to all your email inboxes. I know this because Im on the update list too, so I get it in my inbox when you do. And it hasnt arrived again. How am I supposed to keep you guys informed about what's happening around here if you dont get updated via the emails?

So I am updating here again in the hope that you will get it this time. Because I really want you all to know about the Sale-A-Bration specials that are coming up in January. Last year was just so cool and everyone loved all the free sets (customers and demonstrators alike) so there is a lot of excitement expected this time too. In my opinion the free sets are even nicer than last years (and I have received feedback from other people saying this too) so I cant wait for January to arrive so that everyone can get their hands on them. Scroll down to the previous post titled "Get Ready... SaleABration is coming" for more details about how it works.

Here's a quick card for you. Last month one of my favourite regular hostesses (hello Alicia!) challenged me to do a card using Tempting Turquoise, Pixie Pink, Green Galore and Orchid Opulence... and to use the Seeing Spots Stamp set. This is the result. It's a happy card... we can all use them sometimes dont you think?

I am in the process of getting organized for Christmas, although there's still a bit to do. How's everyone else doing?

Talk to you soon.

Brand new MINI CATALOGUE and Free Postage for blog orders in December!

Images Copyright 1990-2007 Stampin’ Up!

Hello everyone,

Firstly THANK YOU everyone for making November our best month EVER! Personally it was a great month for me, but even better for my team who together put in a fantastic effort! And Stampin'Up had their first ever million dollar month here in Australia which is just awesome... and Im sure the first of many :) What an exciting business to be part of! It just keeps growing and growing.

Im really excited today to be able to give you your first look at the new Mini Catalogue which was released this week. Click here to view the catalogue. These beautiful items are all available NOW, and in December you can take advantage of my offer of FREE POSTAGE on orders received via this blog. That's a 5% saving on all your purchases and should make your Christmas pressie buying even easier! And of course dont forget the Christmas paper in the gorgeous Holiday Thyme paper packs which are only available until 15 December for the special price of $14.50. Click here to see it.

The card that you see here is made with one of the Mini Sets, Bud Basics and the matching wheel, and over the next couple of weeks I will be posting lots of pictures of cards made with the new stamp sets. My favourites at present are Bud Basics and Big Blooms, although lots of people have been telling me that they love Carte Postale and French Flair. I am loving the wide Grosgrain ribbon and the double sided papers are to die for! I know that you will love them!

Finally A HUGE thank you to all the girls that came to the Mini Catalogue launch earlier in the week. It was a really fun night and everyone that I have spoken to has been telling me how much they enjoyed it. I offered some Launch night only specials and we gave away lots of prizes (and bikkies). We also managed to raise some money for the Cancer Council with the Raffle which was fabulous. This was the second launch night that we have held and we will definitely be doing more in the future, so stay tuned.

To place an order from the new Mini, or from the 2007/08 Idea Book and Catalogue, please email me at higgiz@bigpond.com or call me on my mobile 0412 375 552. Dont forget, that SaleABration is coming up in January and February so book your workshops in now to take advantage of this amazing time. And it's filling fast! More details to come in the next post.

Till then!

The Ultimate Christmas Present

Images Copyright 1990-2007 Stampin’ Up!

Stampin'Up has lots of wonderful gifts for your Papercrafting friends and relatives. And the fact that it is delivered to your door is even better... no running madly around the shops, no parking hassles and no screaming kids melting down because you didnt stop at the Wiggles ride. So OK, you now know more about my shopping expeditions than you really needed to know...

But seriously, it makes sense. And if you arent sure what your friends and rels would like for Christmas, I also do beautiful gift certificates for any value that you choose. So really we have Christmas all wrapped up! Click here to view a catalogue, or contact me for the real thing... viewing catalogues online is nice, but it's not the same as curling up on the lounge with a cuppa and a glossy catalogue of your choosing. Now THAT'S the way to shop!

But sometimes it's not someone else that you need to shop for, it's YOU. And if you really want the present that "keeps on giving", then consider the Demonstrator kit for yourself. It really is the best bargain you can possibly get your hands on... over $580 worth of products and supplies, and it costs only $324. Last year two of my customers decided that it was the present that they wanted most, and put their Christmas money towards it. I know that both of them have never for a moment regretted that decision and are still happily receiving a 20% discount on all their own products and supplies. One is happy to support her stamping hobby with that 20%, whilst the other has chosen (much to her surprise) to make it into a business, and every month I have the pleasure of watching her business grow. Both of them are really happy being demonstrators, for completely different reasons, and I love that Stampin'Up works so well for both of them. I now have a fabulous team of girls and Im so inspired by all of them!

Until the end of December I am also giving away any catalogue stamp set that you choose up to $40 in value with each Demonstrator kit that is purchased. So that's even more of a reason to think about it!

If you would like more information about what you get in the kit or you have any other questions about becoming a Demonstrator, please contact me at higgiz@bigpond.com or call me on 0412 375 552. I can promise you that joining Stampin'Up is one of the best decisions that I have made in a really long time. I thought the novelty would wear off, but after over a year with SU, I can honestly say that it just keeps getting better. I am definitley sticking with them!

Tuesday, 27 November 2007

Heartfelt Thanks to you! And a 20% discount!

As you will have read here previously, last month Stampin'Up Australia's General Manager Dave Abbott passed away. Stampin'Up (being the incredible company that they are) released for the month of November ONLY, the All in the Family stamp set, with 100% proceeds raised from this set worldwide going to Dave's wife and 3 young children. That's not just the profits, but 100% OF THE PROCEEDS. To me that speaks volumes about what kind of company SU is, and I am so proud to be associated with them.

A HUGE THANKYOU to those of you who have ordered these already... it really makes me feel all warm and fuzzy to know that this money is benefiting such a great cause, and really when you think about it, that's what Christmas spirit is all about! Thank you so much!!!

To view the set and more details, click here

This promotion will be finishing this week, on the 30th November. Please if you have not yet ordered your set, make sure you order by Friday. After this, the set will not be available until our next big catalogue release in April 2008. And the money is only going to Dave's family this month. Because I want to sell as many of these as I can for the Abbott family in November, I am also giving away my 20% discount so instead of $73.95, this month ONLY this set will only cost you $59.15 plus P&H. Much better! And if you like this set, I'd say jump in and get it now! It would also make a great Christmas gift, and I have to say that my 5yo daughter can play with this for ages... she mixes up the bodies and heads and thinks she is sooooo funny! The above card was also made with this set... I have configured the family to represent my own.. with (from Left to Right) Daddy, Emma, Benjamin and Mummy. Isnt it cute?

Just email me at higgiz@bigpond.com or phone me on 0412 375 552 and I will make sure that your order goes in before the promotion ends. Thanks guys!

Goodbye to "Scribble This" and other Mini sets....

Sad, but true, the Spring Mini Catalogue is drawing to a close. I have to say that I have had so much fun with this catalogue... in particular, I have used the "Scribble This" stamp set over and over (some might say "to death"), but I've also had great use out of the Double sided papers, wheels and stitched grosgrain ribbon. So, with only one week left to go, I am squeezing the last life out of these things. We used up the last of my Cranberry Grosgrain ribbon at this week's Stamp a Stack night, and I'm using the Scribble this set whenever I can... even on Christmas cards like the one you see right here. Who cares that it's not a Christmas set? I love it and am going to use it anyway! And when you stamp it with Silver ink like this, it does have a Christmassy feel dont you think? Well that's my story and Im sticking to it!
Here I've paired it with the "Wonderful words II" and "Holiday Spirit" sets. It features embossing in silver for an extra Christmas touch. Hope you like it!
If you would like to view the Mini Catalogue before it ends on November 30 please click here
You can order any of the gorgeous items you see... just email me at higgiz@bigpond.com or contact me on 0412 375 552. I can send your order to anywhere in Australia for a small charge. Or if you need any further info about anything relating to Stampin'Up or this blog, please feel free to contact me.

Have a great week guys!

Spotlight on Christmas

Images Copyright 1990-2007 Stampin’ Up!

Recently I told you all about two Papercrafting nights that I was holding at my home. Last week we had a full class of 7 lovely ladies who made the Photo Wallet together... and everyone did such a great job. Last night I held a Christmas card-making night here and we had 5 enthusiastic card makers come who made 6 great cards. The cards varied so much, even though we all started with the same basic design and supplies. The card above is one of the cards that we made last night... it showcases the "Spotlighting" technique. I was inspired to make this card after seeing a spotlight card made by someone at SU regional training at Darling Harbour last week. My design is a bit different to theirs, and I've used different colours too. I dont remember the name of the person who made the original card, but I wanted to thank whoever it was that gave me this great idea! :) If you are out there and reading this, please make yourself known to me so that I can thank you personally!
Two of the girls who came last night were also there the previous week and brought the photo wallets that they have made since our class... they were so different and it always amazes me how different people interpret the same ideas in a completely different way. That's one of the things I love most about this craft! The photo wallets are beautiful guys, and Im sure that the people you are giving them to will love them!
After the success of the recent nights I am thinking that I really do need to run these on a regular basis... what do you think guys? Any takers?
Have a lovely day and I'll see you next post!

This one features some of the newly released "Holiday Thyme Designer Series Paper"... I know that not everyone is into snowflakes, and yes I do realize that we dont have them here, but I like them anyway. Having a white Christmas is on my list of things to do in my life, so maybe that's why? And I got the idea for the Real Red and Bashful blue colour scheme from the Christmas colours at Gloria Jeans this year. Yes, I know I drink too much coffee!

Enjoy!!!

Using "All in the Family"

Images Copyright 1990-2007 Stampin’ Up!

Following on from the previous post I can now show you a card I made last night with my newly mounted "All in the Family" stamp set. When I originally looked at it, I thought that you would need to use a Stamp-a-ma-jig (Stamp positioner) to line it up and make it look good. You could certainly use one if you like it to be absolutely perfect. Having said that, I was pleasantly surprised at how easy it was to line them up by eye... much easier that I expected. And quicker to use than I expected too. I think this will be a great set to demo at workshops. And best of all, it's really fun to use.

So here's a sample card for you to check out... I wanted to have something to show off at tonight's workshop. Im really happy with the result too. This is a Chrissy card that I made for my best friend and her new husband (and their 2 cats). Cute hey? I love that you can make the family resemble your own... there's 28 stamps in the set, so there's quite a good choice of family looks. And the arms are seperate so you can make them do different things... wave, hold hands, hold a baby etc etc. What do you think?

Dont forget that if you like the look of this set I am offering it to you in November only at the reduced price of $59.15 (plus P&H)... I am donating my demonstrator discount to Dave Abbott's family fund, and hoping to sell as many of them as possible for this worthwhile cause.

In the meantime, enjoy this card... it was really fun to make!

All in the Family

Images Copyright 1990-2007 Stampin’ Up!

Hello Everyone,

Recently I posted about the sad passing of Stampin'Up Australia's GM, Dave Abbott. (See post dated 23rd October below) At that time I mentioned that I would also post on here when I found out more details about the Stamp Set being released here in Dave's honour. Well now I have those details and here we go.

In November when you purchase the "All in the Family" stamp set, 100% of the proceeds, (not just the profit, but the full 100% of the proceeds!) will go to Dave's family. Dave was 41, and he left behind a wife and 3 children. You can see Dave and his family in the photo in the scrapbook layout at the top of this post. This stamp set will actually be available in next year's Australian Idea Book and Catalogue, but has been especially pre-released just for the month of November to raise money for the family. The stamp set is called "All in the Family" and you can see some of the images in this 28-piece stamp set above, or you can click here to download the colour flyer and view the full set. The retail price of this set is $73.95, but in November I will be donating my demonstrator discount to support this cause, and hopefully that will mean that I will sell more of these sets. So this month the set will only cost you $59.15 plus P&H. Once November ends the set will no longer be available again until the new Catalogue comes out next April.

I plan on making my family's Christmas card with "All in the Family"... you can configure the family to resemble your own, and I thought that would be a lovely idea for Christmas. And it's certainly something different!

If anyone would like to place an order, please let me know by emailing me at higgiz@bigpond.com or you can call me on 0412 375 552.

I have just placed an order for my set, so hopefully I will have some sample cards up here for you soon.

November 2007 Class Schedule

Images Copyright 1990-2007 Stampin’ Up!

Hello Guys,

The second half of this year has been so busy for me... in particular my Stampin'Up business has been doing so well that I have been quite amazed! Thank you to many of you who have been either customers, hostesses or downlines... or any combination of these! I wouldnt have a business without you!

So I am really grateful. November is just a little quieter for me, as I am now starting to fill my diary for January and February 2008 (!) The positive side of that is that I can do a couple of home classes this month, which I havent had time to do for a while. So Im pleased to let you know what I have planned. Here's the November schedule:

Photo Wallet Class
You can see an example of the photo wallet in the following photots. It holds up to 6 or so photos and makes a beautiful gift for Christmas. Cost of the class is $10 and for this you'll receive full instructions and use of all supplies on the night.
Where? My place at Narara, NSW on the Central Coast. I will email you the full address details when you book in.
When? Monday 12th November 7.30
I would like to thank Bev Gerard on Splitcoast Stampers for being the inspiration for my photo wallet... I love them!

Christmas Stamp A Stack
We'll be making 6 Christmas cards for a cost of $10. All materials supplied. There's nothing like a handmade card to give at Christmas time, but every year so many of us say we will make our own cards, and then you realize that you've run out of time. Not this year! Add to your card stash by coming along to this night. We will make 3 each of 2 different designs. Depending on numbers I may run a second night. Last year this one booked out really quickly, so let me know soon if you'd like to attend.

Where? My place at Narara, NSW on the Central Coast. I will email you the full address details when you book in.
When? Tuesday 20th November 7.30

If you are in driving distance of the Central Coast come along and get together with some other girls who love stamping as much as you do! If you cant make the nights I've listed, dont despair, I will be having more classes in the coming months. And as another idea, dont forget I can always come to you!

To book your place please email me at higgiz@bigpond.com or call me on my mobile which is 0412 375 552. I cant wait to see you!

Just in Thyme for Christmas!

Hey guys,

Stampin'Up has just released a new range of Double sided Christmas 12x12 paper TODAY! I know how much fantastic feedback I have had previously about SU paper - it's such great quality and the price is great too. I haven't been able to put any example cards up yet because I dont even have my hands on it yet! But here's a sneak peek at the paper itself.... click here. Isnt it gorgeous? And until 15 December it will be on sale for only $14.95... how good value is that for a 12 page pack of Double sided 12x12 paper? You wont find this paper available anywhere else either! On that point I should also tell you that I've checked out the new Mini Catalogue that we have coming out December 1, and there are several gorgeous paper packs in there too! So all you papery addicts will be overjoyed to know that there is lots of gorgeous stuff in store for you! Keep in mind though that if you have your eye on anything in the current mini Catalogue it only runs until the end of November. I am hopeful that my beloved 'Scribble This' set will reappear in next year's Idea book and Catalogue (released April 1) but I know there's no guarrantees. To be sure that you wont miss out on anything you love in the current catty, contact me before the end of November.
To order just email me or click on the ordering link at the right hand side of this blog. I can get your stuff to you anywhere in Australia. Or you can call me on 0412 375 552.

I look forward to hearing from you soon!

Sad News

Images Copyright 1990-2007 Stampin’ Up!

Hello everyone,

Some of you would already know this, but very sadly we lost our General Manager of Stampin'Up Australia, Dave Abbott, last Thursday. Dave had been sick and in and out of hospital for most of this year, having fallen ill towards the end of last year. I only had the opportunity to meet Dave once, at our Convention in May, but from that meeting and from other communications that he sent out to us from time to time, I can tell you that he was an amazing person. At Convention we knew he was very ill... when he gave out the awards at our Awards Dinner he did so sitting down, as he was too weak to stand throughout the proceedings. But he told us he was honoured to be there, and wouldnt have missed it for the world. When he became even more unwell not long after Convention many of us sent him cards and good wishes. He actually took the time to compose an email to reply to us, to thank us for the cards, and to tell us how he was going to beat "this thing". Sadly that was not to be. But he fought his illness for almost a year, and remained interested and involved with the Australian Stampin'Up demonstrators throughout this time. I feel humbled and so very proud of what he has done for us.
The saddest part of this is that Dave leaves behind a wife and young family (3 children). Some of the demonstrators in our team attended his funeral yesterday, and Im told it was a beautiful service. My thoughts are with his family, and also with the demonstrators who knew Dave better than I, and who had been touched by his kindness. Dave was only 41.
Above is the card that I will be sending to them. Sympathy cards are not always easy, although I have to say that I didnt find this one difficult. It's funny how sometimes an idea and colours and design just seem to come to you. I've used the SU Wild Rose set here, with the French Script background. The sentiment is from the All Year Cheer 1 set.
Im so proud to work with Stampin'Up... they are doing something really lovely for Dave's family. The following post is taken directly from the SU demonstrator website:

"In Dave's honour, we're setting up a fund to help his family through this difficult time. During the month of November, we're releasing the All in the Family stamp set for sale in all our markets. All proceeds from the sale of this set during this time will directly benefit Dave's wife and three children. Please look for further communication soon regarding this opportunity to help Dave's family.

Dave, thank you for all that you taught us. You will be greatly missed."

When I have more details about the Stamp Set I will let you all know.

And the winner of the Punch Challenge is....

Thanks so much everyone for your entries in the little competition I held this week. I loved getting lots of emails and comments and it was so much fun that I think I'll have to do another one really soon... Hmmm what can I give away this time? I'll have a little think and post something new...

In the meantime I need to announce this week's winner. Congratulations go to....

Robyn Little

Robyn, if you would like to contact me at higgiz@ bigpond.com and I'll get your details and organise to send you your prize. You also need to let me know which inkpad colour or Punch you would like to get, so you might need to have a little think about it!

So what was the correct answer? I used the Slit Punch under the ribbon, the Word Window Punch at top left for the Words, and the Round Tab Punch to make the large circle for the Dragonfly. Would you believe that I had nearly 30 entries for this little comp, but only 8 people guessed correctly. See, I told you it might not be what you think! :)

So here's a quick little tutorial on how to get the Round Tab Punch to make a large circle...

1. Position your Round Tab Punch where you want your circle to be. (Note that when you are punching it's always a good idea to hold the punch upside down... that way you can see exactly where you are punching and line it up perfectly)

2. Now turn your punch (or paper) so that you now have the punch at right angles to where you originally punched, line the curve of the punch carefully up with the first punched outline and punch again...

3. Voila! You now have a large circle which is bigger than any of the standard circle punches available from SU. I've used this a few times lately and it is very cool :)

I hope you all enjoyed this challenge! I did :) Now that you know how, you'll have to get your Round Tab Punches to work! (Did you also know that the Round Tab Punch can be used to make brackets and parenthesis?)

Happy Stamping!

How cute is this?

Images Copyright 1990-2007 Stampin’ Up!

I love papercraft! There is no limit to what you can do with it. I am originally a scrapbooker who kind of got into making cards as well... after all, I had all the materials and it helped me justify my habit to my husband..."But Look honey, we save so much money on buying cards!" LOL! But actually that's not a complete lie... Cards are expensive! And I love the effect that sending a card can have on someone... so many times I've heard people say that a card brought a smile to their face when they really needed it. So I believe the in the power of a little card sent at the right time.

But I wanted to show you something different. Lately I've had the opportunity to make boxes and wallets and here is a simple little Card Tote bag. It's just the right size to stash your A5 cards, and I've been making them to match so they make a great gift too. This one features this month's promo set "Looks like Spring" (see the post of Monday 1st October for the details) and was quick and easy to make. I also made these with a couple of workshop groups lately and they LOVED them. I hope you love them too.

Enjoy!

PS Dont forget that the Punch Challenge (see previous post) ends tomorrow so get those entries in to have your chance at winning!

Coolness Galore and a Little Competition!

Images Copyright 1990-2007 Stampin’ Up!

If you are after some beautiful card and papercraft ideas, a wonderful place to visit is the Elite Challenge Blog (you can find the link over on the right hand side of this page). "Elite Stampers" are the downlines or team of Angela Sargeant. Angela joined with Stampin'Up on the very first day that they opened for business in Australia, and she now looks after a great big team of us! Another of the girls that signed up under Angela, Alisa Tilsner, was responsible for setting up the Elite Challenges blog as a team challenge site. Alisa posts challenges for us to do if we wish... sometimes they are colour challenges, or perhaps Sketch challenges, or sometimes we'll be challenged to use a particular SU stamp set. Each month there are new challenges to attempt and I've now had a go at several of them.
The card you see above is my attempt at the latest colour challenge. The colours we were given to use were Tempting Turquoise, Cool Carribean and Green Galore. So the challenge is called "Coolness Galore". I've used Cool Carribean cardstock as a base, and then used Tempting turquoise ink, and matted the main Paisley image in Green Galore. The main dragonfly image is stamped in Black ink on Vellum paper, and I've used the watercolour crayons to colour in the reverse side of the vellum. (The technique is called "Stained Glass")
I think the work on the Elite Challenge Blog is just beautiful, and I am honoured to be a member of the team. Take a look at the blog, who knows, maybe you'll feel challenged to create something wonderful yourself?

So here's a little challenge for you. I've used 3 different SU punches to create this card. Who can tell me which ones? It might not be what you think! You can either comment on this post to provide your answer, or you can email it to me at higgiz@bigpond.com All the correct answers will be put into a hat and the winner will be drawn out on Sundey 21st October. The winner can choose any small sized punch (valued at up to $13.50) or a free Classic inkpad in any colour they choose. You can be located anywhere (you dont have to be in Australia) but the competition is not open to SU demonstrators... Sorry girls!

Enjoy!

Linda

Edited to add: I will only be able to give away the small sized punches or inkpads as available in Australia... that is, if it's in the Aussie catalogue then I am happy to offer it as a prize. Some colours that are available in the US are not in the current Australian catalogue - for example the current "In Color" range is different in the States. I noticed one of the entries is hoping to win a Wild Wasabi inkpad... but we dont have that one here...Sorry! (I hope we will get it next year because it's a yummy colour!) You can view the Australian catalogue by going to www.stampinup.com and then clicking on the Australian flag. I am happy to offer any of the Classic inkpads ($9.95au) or small sized punches (up to $13.50au) Great to see all the entries coming in... and good luck guys!

Save 20% to honour World Card Making Day

Images Copyright 1990-2007 Stampin’ Up!

Yep, there really is such a thing! The actual day falls on the 6th October, so to celebrate it in style, Stampin'Up are offering a fantastic 20% off the Simply Sent Card Kits. But the 20% off will only be available for 4 days from the 4th to the 8th October. You will find these kits on Pages 18-20 of your 2007-2008 Idea Book and Catalogue, or you can click Here and view the catalogue for a look at the 4 different packs available.
These kits make the most wonderful gifts, and are also great for people who would like to get started with Cardmaking but dont have a lot of materials to get started. Everything you need to make 10 cards is included... stamp set, ink, glue, cardstock (already cut to size) and other embellishments such as buttons, ribbons, or crayons - depending on the pack you choose. Full instructions are included, and it all comes to you packaged in a gorgeous little box. (Im a sucker for anything in boxes or tins... why is that exactly?) Once you've made your 10 cards you will still have the ink and stamps so you still have the tools to create other cards, all you will need is some cardstock.

My big girl is 5!!!

On a personal note, my eldest is celebrating her 5th birthday today! This morning she came (early as per usual) into our bedroom and announced "Guess What everyone.... Im 5!!!". The presents were on the end of our bed and she squealed and did a little dance. When she answered the phone after breakfast she answered with "Five year old Emma Speaking". Dont you remember the days when you were THAT excited about birthdays??? I asked my hubby today what it would take for him to get them excited about birthdays again. His answer was "a Flat screen TV". Hmmmm, it seems that we need to spend a lot more money now to get that kind of a result.

Anyway... Happy Birthday Emma! We hope that you have the best birthday EVER!

Love Mummy!

Looks like a Spring Promotion...

Images Copyright 1990-2007 Stampin’ Up!

Hey everyone!

Firstly I wanted to say thank you to all those people who took part in the Blog workshop I held here last month. It was a big success and everyone seemed really happy with the freebies they will be receiving. I had fewer workshops last month due to lots of family goings on, so it was great to be able to recover some ground with the orders received here. I feel really lucky to have so many wonderful customers and I enjoy your comments so much, so a great big THANK YOU from me. And whilst I'm talking about this, you might remember that I mentioned that the largest order would also receive a free inkpad.... Congratulations to Beth Lane! Beth, I'll contact you in the next couple of days to find out what colour you would like. I get such a buzz out of giving away free stuff... how exciting!

Now, here's what's new. For their October promotion, Stampin'Up have announced a timely offer on the "Looks like Spring" stamp set. That's what I've used on this card above... and Im guessing you'll be seeing a lot of this stamp set over the next few weeks! I also used the matching Spring Bouquet Punch (yep, you stamp the little flowers and then punch them out precisely with the matching punch - a fantastic way to get lots of little flowers for your cards or layouts and NO CUTTING involved... gotta love that!) AND I also used the matching Spring Showers Double-Sided Patterned Paper. The ink is Chocolate Chip, on Choc chip cardstock.

So what exactly is the promo? When you purchase the Looks like Spring stamp set (Set of 6 stamps for $57.95rrp) and the matching Spring Bouquet punch ($30.95 rrp) you will receive one of your choice of the 2 matching patterend paper packs ($16.95 rrp). AND as a special offer to readers of this blog, the first 3 people to order this great set will ALSO RECEIVE A FREE CLASSIC INKPAD - colour of your choice ($9.95 rrp) That's $26.90 value - free if you order right here on the blog. To take up this great offer, email me at higgiz@bigpond.com - or click on the "Order" link on the top right of this page.

Party Time

Images Copyright 1990-2007 Stampin’ Up!

I cant believe that my oldest baby is turning 5! Next year is big school, with all the excitement and challenges that will bring. This year has been a big one too... I have seen her develop and grow, and although she can still be challenging at times, I've noticed huge improvements in lots of areas. She is also very crafty... and can happily spend large amounts of time drawing and colouring and creating. I finished off the invites for the small get together that we are having for her big day, and she helped me colour in the "Pretty Princess" image on the cards. Of course there were a few requirements for these cards... they HAD to be pink and purple, and they HAD to be cute. From my point of view they also had to be quick and easy - because I had to duplicate them a number of times!

So here is the result. How do you think we did?

Dont forget that tomorrow is the last day that I will be accepting the Blog workshop orders... just send your order to higgiz@bigpond.com. (Of course you can order anytime...but this will be your last chance to get some free stuff as well) I will be contacting all particants over the next few days.

Happy Stamping!

With a little help from my friends....

And in this case, the friend is Mr Cuttlebug. I had the opportunity to have a little play with the Cuttlebug courtesy of my lovely friend and upline Georgina. How much fun is it? I needed to make a card for my MIL's 60th Birthday, so I used this beautiful flowery embossing folder on Sahara Sand cardstock and then swiped over it with Elegant eggplant ink to highlight the raised bits. The cake image is from the Pretty Princess set. Hope you like it!

Colour Challenge for you..

Some of you would remember that I recently took part in our Demonstrator forum's Cyberstamp night. The card you see here was another card from the same night. Marelle challenged us to come up with a creation using these colours: Not quite Navy, Garden Green and Elegant Eggplant. Now THERE'S 3 colours that I had NEVER thought of using together... even though Im a big fan of Not Quite Navy and Elegant Eggplant on their own. But that was the challenge, so I found a way to put them together and here is the result. What do you think? It's not my favourite card that I've ever done, but I have decided that I DO love the colours together - it's certainly a different combination for me. I was inspired to create this card after seeing a sketch in a recent CK magazine. I love using sketches for inspiration!

In the meantime don't forget about the Blog Catalogue workshop offer that is currently happening (see previous post)... EVERYONE WHO PLACES AN ORDER OVER $100 before the 28th September will get either a stamp set or cash to spend in return. (What you will recieve will depend on the order that I receive your emial in) This is a fantastic special! You can either put an order together yourself, or you can gather a couple of orders from friends, colleagues and family. There's already been lots of interest and a couple of orders, so keep them coming guys! Remember this offer is only available to order received via the blog. Email me at higgiz@bigpond.com to place your order.

Enjoy the lovely Spring weather that we are having at the moment... Isnt it just gorgeous!

Happy Birthday to Me.... Kind of ... and you get the presents!

Images Copyright 1990-2007 Stampin’ Up!

Ok, so it's not my real birthday. But this week I celebrated my Stampin'Up Birthday - I've been with SU for one whole year. I celebrated my year by feeling fantastic about where this business has taken me already, and also by holding a workshop with my very good friend Alex. Ironically, it was at Alex's house at another workshop just over a year ago that I first discovered Stampin'Up for the very first time. So it was fun to do another workshop with her now. Looking back on my year, I am so grateful to have met so many wonderful new people, so many of whom I now call my friends. So thank you to many of you - for both your friendships and your continued support.

To say thank you I would like to offer the following Catalogue Workshop extravaganza, only available on my blog.

This is how it will work: I am looking for 6 or more people to participate in the Blog Catalogue Workshop. All you have to do is gather orders of $100 and you will share in the Hostess Gifts. The easiest way to do this is to show the catalogue to friends and family - or anybody that you think might love our products. Just email your orders through to me and your contact details to higgiz@bigpond.com EVERYONE who places an order of $100 or over will share in the hostess gifts and here they are:

1st Participant - Your choice of Petal Prints Stamp Set or $30 free product of your choice
2nd Participant - All about U stamp Set or $25 free product of your choice
3rd Participant - Reason to Smile hostess Stamp set or $25 free product of your choice
4th Participant - Hostess Level 1 set of your choice
All other participants will recieve $20 products of your choice.

No kidding guys - this is a great deal! It is only available on orders recieved via this blog. I dont plan on doing this kind of thing very often! Postage to anywhere in Australia will be 5% of the order amount, and is therefore only available to residents of Australia.

Everyone will be a Winner!!

PLUS - The Individual with the most in orders over $100 will also receive a free Classic Ink Pad of their choice (valued at $9.95)

If you need me to send a catalogue to you, please contact me at higgiz@bigppond.com. Otherwise you can view an online catalogue HERE

PLEASE NOTE: This offer will end September 28, 2007.

And I thought you might like to see a card that I made this week too.. for another dear friend who celebrated her REAL birthday this week (Happy Birthday Cheryl!) It features the Rock and Roll technique with the "Seeing Spots" stamp set and some of my fave colours (yes it's Old Olive again... this time paired with Vintage Violet.) I've also used Close to Cocoa cardstock on this one, some of our beautiful Grosgrain ribbon and some Hodgepodge (of course... I have to revisit the current Promo!). I used the "Be Happy" stamp set on the flower and punched the petals with the large oval punch. This card was a lot of fun to make. I love using punches - they speed up the whole process which is great. Enjoy the card, and enjoy your week.

Free Hodgepodge Hardware Upgrade!

Images Copyright 1990-2007 Stampin’ Up!

You might be wondering why I've put this card in particular on my blog... that's because it helps me show off the new SU promotion for September: Anyone who purchases the Demonstrator Kit in September will also receive a tin of beautiful Hodgepodge Hardware (valued at $52.95). The kit in itself is already awesome value, so this is a fantastic opportunity to jump on a bargain! Why become a Stampin'Up Demonstrator? Because it's fun! Also you will receive a discount on all your papercraft products that you buy for yourself, as well as having the opportunity to earn additional freebies along the way. I am just in love with this job, so if you love stamps or papercraft, and think that you would like to do what I do, please contact me for more info on higgiz@bigpond.com. I will happily send you the information that you are after. There are all kinds of demonstrators, from those who just want products for themselves at a discount, to those who want to support their hobby (the biggest group!), to those that want to build a career. What you do with it is up to you!

You'll notice that I've added Hodgepodge to my card above... I've used an Antique Brass photo anchor and a buckle in the same colour that has the ribbon threaded through. I think metal accents work so well on both cards and on layouts. They seem to finish things off beautifully. If you look back through many of my posts you will see lots of examples of Hodgepodge used on various card examples. The card here also uses the Bodacious Bouquet stamp set, and the Polka Dots and Paisley double sided patterned paper. I hope it inspires you to try some Hodgepodge for yourself.

Have a lovely day doing whatever it is tht you love to do. :)

Masculine Cards (Dont forget Father's Day this Sunday!)

Tonight was our latest "Cyberstamp" on the Demonstrator forum that I am a member of. What's a cyberstamp? Where all of us SU girls get "together" via the internet and make some cards. One person is the "host" and posts challenges from time to time on the night. Tonight it was Marelle's turn, and she gave us 4 wonderful challenges. The final challenge was to create a masculine card using only word/alphabet or sentiment stamps, and besides that we werent allowed to use any other stamps (!!!) We were also to use Patterened Paper and any other non-stamp embellishments that we wished to use.
The hardest thing for me about this challenge was resisting the urge to use more stamps than allowed. I so badly wanted to stamp backgrounds and other images. So.. the resulting card is quite simple, but you know what? I actually really like it. I also used hodgepodge, ribbon and gel pen. It's all SU of course! If you would like any further information about any of the products used, please contact me on higgiz@bigpond.com.

Thank you Marelle for the wonderful challenges tonight!

Happy Father's Day on Sunday to all you dads out there!

Altered Brads

Images Copyright 1990-2007 Stampin’ Up!

Sometimes you create a project, and then, at the last minute, you realize that you just dont have the right [insert item here] to finish it off. This happened to me last night as I was finishing off a card for a workshop tonight. The hostess wanted to see reverse embossing (one of my favourite techniques) at her workshop so I designed the card above. It's really simple and features the Gold encore inkpad for the stars, the new Cranberry Stitched Grosgrain, the main reverse embossed image sponged with True Thyme ink, and a Brad in the punched half circle at the top. Problem was that I couldnt find a brad to match the Gold stars. I have the Vintage Brads, but those come in black, copper, silver and brass - but not gold. So I chose the colour I use the least (copper at the moment), dipped my copper brad into the gold ink pad, then embossed it with clear embossing powder - voila! A brad that perfectly matches my Gold Stars.
IMPORTANT NOTE! Just be careful if you are embossing brads - hold on to your brad with a pair of tweezers... you dont want to give yourself 3rd degree burns!
Have fun with this one guys. It's a great technique and gets a wow every time! If you would like to host a workshop using this technique just let me know... it is really popular for Christmas cards. You can email me at higgiz@bigpond.com if you would like more information.

Scribble This...

Copyright 1990-2007 Stampin’ Up!

Well...

I think it has become quite obvious that I am completely in love with this stamp set. And I'm going through a bit of a Green stage at the moment. So when I received a beautiful card the other day from the lovely Miss Angela it inspired me to create my own card using some of her ideas. (The white gel pen on the doodly bits in the background and the central flower motif are copied from Angela's card) Didnt it come up nicely? We did this card at a workshop on Friday and it was a big hit.

Enjoy!

Getting to Grips with Glitter

I've always loved using little bits of glitter - both on my cards and on my Scrapbook layouts. This thing with glitter though is that a little goes a long way... You only need to use such a small amount to make an impact.

It's a bit hard to get the full impact of the glitter on the card above because I find that glitter doesnt come up particularly well in scans. But I hope you can get the idea. I used the Snowflake wheel in white on the Bashful Blue cardstock, and then while it was wet, I applied Heat and Stick powder and heated it with my heat tool. While it was sticky I poured on the glitter, and tapped off the excess. And what you end up with is lovely glittery snowflakes. I've used the Snow Flurries out of the new Mini Catalogue punched out with our new 1/2" circle punch to complete the card. Really simple.

The beauty of Heat and Stick Powder is that it goes on perfectly over Craft or Pigment inks, or versamark, which means that you end up with a glittery image that you have stamped, rather than trying to apply glitter with a glue pen or other adhesive. Neither of which is very precise. This way, the glitter will adhere perfectly in the shape that you want it. If anyone would like to see Heat and Stick powder in action, please contact me at higgiz@bigpond.com I can either do a workshop with you and your friends, or if there is enough interest, this would also make a great class that I would be happy to schedule in the coming months. It's such a cool technique.

Hope you like the card!

Tag Time

Copyright 1990-2007 Stampin’ Up!

See, I dont always just make cards...

Sometimes I get inspired to create other stuff. This is a tag that we did as a project at the recent Mini Launch. It's a really simple little thing, but it was fun to do, and I just love these colours together. I've used a few different pieces to pull it all together. The colours are Sahara Sand, Chocolate Chip, Buckaroo Blue, Cranberry Crisp and Very Vanilla. And I've used both the "Wishing You" and "Scribble This" stamp sets out of the New Mini catalogue. And wheeled on the Rough texture wheel to make the background cardstock look more interesting. There's a bit of punch work in there too. Notice the ribbon? It's the new Cranberry Crisp stitched Grosgrain... how nice is that? I am soooo loving all the new stuff in the new catty, and have enjoyed playing with it even more than I thought I would.

Dont forget that if there's anything I can help you with dont hesitate to email me on higgiz@bigpond.com. All Stampin'Up or papercraft questions happily accepted.

Enjoy creating some lovely new stuff this week. If you dont have the time, try to carve out just a little for yourself. I know it's hard, but it makes you feel so good to honour yourself in this way. You do need to make time for you.

Otherwise we might all go just a little bit crazy!

Today's the Day...

Yay!!!!!!

Today's the day that the New Mini Catalogue products become available. There's already been so much excitement surrounding the mini, and last night some of the demonstrators in my team and myself got together to have a "little" product launch. We had about 50 wonderful customers and friends who joined us to make several projects using items from the new catalogue. I've had some great feedback from so many different people already... everyone seemed to have a great time, and they all made some great items that they were really happy with.

This Mini catalogue will run from today until the end of November, so anytime you wish to order these products over the next 4 months you can do that by contacting me at higgiz@bigpond.com Or of course you can hold a workshop at your place and I'll come and help everyone to make a couple of projects of their own.

Also this month's promotion has been announced and it will be that anyone who hosts a workshop that has sales of over $600 will not only receive their normal hostess benefits, but you will also receive an additional Stamp set valued at $53.95. The 3 stamp sets that you can choose from for this promo are:

Petal Prints
Nice and Easy Notes
All about you

These 3 sets are all found in the 2007/08 Idea Book and Catalogue... if you need one of these please contact me. The promotion continues until September 15.

Finally, I hope you enjoy this card... It's using the "Scribbe This" set from the Mini Catalogue. This is one of the cards we made at our launch last night. The card also featured the matching wheel, and the Round Tab punch, also from the new Mini. I was inspired to make this card after seeing something similar on a US website, so I changed the design around a bit, and the changed the colours, and Im really happy with the result. I hope you like it too!

Have a wonderful day out there!

Ready, Set....

And almost "Go"! Our brand new Mini Catalogue is almost here. Lots of beautiful new stamp sets, paper and accessories will be available for a limited time only. I cant wait for August 1st, because that's the day you are all allowed to order from the new catalogue. As a demonstrator I have been allowed to order from the catty for myself, and have begun to busily make up some lovely new samples with the new sets. I'll be posting pictures of many of them over the coming weeks, so stay tuned. If there's something that you really love, please let me know - I'd be happy to demo it for you or to help you make your own too. If you are already on my mailing list, then you should be receiving your copy of the catalogue in the mail over the next couple of weeks. If you arent on the mailing list, please contact me at higgiz@bigpond.com and I'll mail you one for free.

In the meantime, enjoy this simple card. It's made with the new Christmas set called "Wishing You" and uses one of my favourite colours, Rose Red, teamed with Kraft Cardstock and Gold Cord. I hope you like it.

Touch of Nature

Here's a stamp set that I got as a freebie... I originally chose it because even though it wasnt my style, I thought that a lot of my customers would love it. Funny how actually using a set can make you change your mind about it. I find Im using it quite a lot, and liking it more and more. But I was right that my customers would love it... it's been an extremely popular choice out of the new catalogue.

I did these cards for a Workshop this week. Mostly because I wanted to use the Watercolour crayons as that special is continuing until the end of the month. (For anyone who doesnt know, until July 31st the Watercolour crayons and pencil sets are 25% off when you place an order over $50 for any SU products. See the "Just add Water" promo details on this blog dated 3rd July) Im really happy with the cards... what do you guys think?

Dont forget to email me at higgiz@bigpond.com if you have any questions or need any information.

Happy Stamping Guys!

Eeeek, I've been tagged (again)

Images Copyright 1990-2007 Stampin’ Up!

This whole tag thing has been around for a little while now. The idea is that you have to tell 7 things about yourself that other people might find vaguely interesting, and then pass it on. So Im embarrassed to admit that I have now been tagged 3 times - once by the lovely Marelle and twice by the cheeky Angela. Embarrassed because I've never responded to a tag because I wasnt sure that I had 7 truly interesting things to say. Still not sure that these are all that riveting, but here you go...

1. I think of myself as a "child of the 80's" and know all kinds of music trivia from that era. (Always loved those "name that tune" games... if its an 80's song I have a good chance of winning)

2. I lived in South Korea for a year after I finished school as an exchange student.

3. I have a complete and utter phobia of snakes

4. I am married to my brother's wife's brother. (Doesnt that make your brain hurt? And yes, it's legal)

5. My favourite place that I ever lived was in a one bedroom apartment in Manly with views of the Ocean and the Harbour. It was fantastic!

6. One of my favourite treats in the world is going to the hairdressers... I'll pay extra for one of those head massages that they give you, or offer them extra money if they make it last longer! I know that's sad.

7. A few of my all time favourite films are The Princess Bride, The Shawshank Redemption, Parenthood, Mystic Pizza and others too numerous to name. I love movies, but dont get to go very often.

Now, who should I tag?

Dont worry girls, I wont hold you to it.

I hope you enjoy the card at the top of this post. I used the Stampin'Up "Simply Scrappin" pack materials for the card, and also borrowed the inspiration for the card from the cover of the pack. These packs are Sooo much better than I thought they would be! There's everything in there that you need to make both layouts and cards, and lots of them. I used one at a workshop on Saturday to make a layout and several people ordered them. It just proves that people need to see and maybe even use something before they can really see how great it is.

Anyway... I hope you all enjoy it, and I'll see you next post!
