Timeless Textures Tag and Wink of Stella on Wooden accents

A very quick post for you today... I wanted to show one of my favourite projects from my Wink of Stella class this past week. I love how this tag turned out!  I used the Timeless Textures stamp set to create fabulous background texture in various shades of yellow. Then I added some dots and a flourish in Soft Suede ink (from the same set).  The wooden accents have been "glittered up" with the gold Wink of Stella glitter brush.  I used the scalloped tag topper to create the top of the tag and tied through some lace ribbon. But you could use any neutral tone of ribbon or cord.

Very very quick to reproduce this... and the textures turn out a little bit different every time!

I've included a product list below so that you can order them for yourself if you wish.  Don't forget that I am in Australia... so our SU products come from Stampin'Up Australia, and you need to be in Australia to order from me.  If you have ANY questions about products, classes or joining Stampin'Up, please contact me by clicking HERE.   Right now we have a ton of specials happening so its a great time!

Or use the "Shop Now" button to place your order!

Pop out Swing card for this month's stamp club project

I have discovered this style of card and I love it.  We made it at my evening stamp club tonight and it was a hit too.  I decorated it with the Number of Years stamps and cut them out with the matching framelits.

I was concerned that the card front seemed to "float" when the card was open. So I asked my clever mechanically-minded finance... and he quickly devised a type of hinge to not only keep it in place but make the central piece easily swing through the hole.  Isn't that cool?

I am thinking that this would make a great video tutorial..... stay tuned and I'll put one together for you soon.

Here's a pic of the inside of the card... This is where you would write your greeting:

Enjoy and I'll be back with more soon :-)

This week's classes for you.... still spots left! Introducing the Wink of Stella Glitter brushes!

Hello guys!

The school holidays are quickly passing by and we are keeping everyone busy!  In amongst everything though I have been finding some time to create beautiful things with our gorgeous new Occasions catalogue products.  This week I have been lucky to have a launch, a workshop, a club and 2 classes. Phew!

I still have spots left in my classes this week... so if either of these sounds like you.. please feel free to join us!

The first is the Wink of Stella class this Wednesday at 11am.  The card you see here today is one of my Wink of Stella cards... this one was inspired by the talented Patty Bennett in the US.  I used the Wink of Stella glitter brush to watercolour the rose image.  Its hard to see how glittery it is, but I guarantee that it is quite beautiful!  In the class you will make 3 lovely projects each using a Wink of Stella glitter brush in a different way.

The class is $30 and INCLUDES a Wink of Stella glitter brush to take home with you (RRP is $14).  So this is a great value class!

The second class I am offering this week is a Project Life class this coming Thursday evening, 21st January. This class is for anyone who:

  • wants to find out what Project Life is all about
  • has tried PL before but is after some new tips
  •  and ideas
  • Wants to have time to work on your pages
Come along and learn more about this awesome Memory Keeping system. If you have photos on your phone or computer, lets get them OFF there and into albums to enjoy them.  The class will be $20 and includes use of all my Project Life materials and accessories, plus 2-3 page protectors to get started with. If you already have the items you need you can come along and just crop with us for $10  All materials and light refreshments provided.

Come along and enjoy a few creative hours to yourself!  You'll be inspired and maybe even learn something new!

To book into either class please click HERE and email me.   I hope to see you at a class soon!

Memory Keeping with Project Life by Stampin'Up - January Blog Hop

Hello everyone!  Welcome to the MKPLSU design team monthly Blog Hop!

I'm back from my time away and starting to go through all my photos of my time in the US.  We were so lucky with the weather while we were away! One of my hopes was to see snow and maybe even get up close and personal with it.. and my wishes were granted on both counts!  I arrived on Boxing Day and there had been no snow at that point in Michigan.  On my second day there they announced on the weather channel that there was a "100% chance of snow by 3pm".  Needless to say I was pretty happy about that news!  And sure enough, at about 2.45pm the snow started to fall.

I decided that its pretty to watch, and you can do some really awesome things in it.  But I can also see that it creates a lot of extra work for people that live with it.... I watched Paul use the Snow Blower to clear his parent's driveway, and Im sure the novelty of snow must wear off pretty quickly!

But on New Year's Day I had a surprise when Paul's sister offered to take me out to try Cross Country Skiing. I was moving pretty slowly for my first try, but I would love to do it again one day. It was so awesome to be out in the woods, and part of the Winter Wonderland created by all that snow. Truly, it was a memorable day for me.

So that makes it perfect as a Project Life subject!  I have lots more pages to create with these pictures, but I thought you might like to see the first one that I did.  And for this page I had help too!  My very creative finance Paul helped me with the creation of this page. He cleverly used two colours on the words "Snow Day" to create a shadow effect. I also had him ink around all the cards with black Memento ink to help them stand out. I added a few pieces from the accessory kit to accentuate and balance different elements on the page. And as always... it was a lot of fun to do.

I used the "Memories in the Making" card collection and matching accessory kit. Aren't the colours in these kits just awesome?? And they were perfect for my snowy photos too.

If you have been thinking about getting into Project Life yourself (or already do, and want some tips and ideas) then you might enjoy my next Project Life class which is happening this Tuesday evening at my home in Narara.  Here are the details:

The End of Year Sale and retiring list ends on the 4th January... and thats tomorrow!

Every single time I have at least one customer contact me a day or two after the end of a promotion or catalogue and ask me to get the items they wanted... and every year I have to sadly tell them that what they want is no longer obtainable.  Neither they nor me are happy about this.  But it is what it is.

So my advice to you is..... check through both the retiring list AND the Year end sale to make sure there is nothing there that you are going to regret not buying!  Im not kidding... I hate those phone calls!

You can find the items on sale from Stampin'Up Australia by either clicking the links below OR by visiting the Online Store (click the "Shop Now" button to visit the store). The great thing about the online store is that it's always open... you can shop at home in your PJs if you want!

Here are the links...

I am so excited about the start of the new catalogue in 2 days, but I don't want you to miss out on whats there now too.  :-)

Going Global - was this stamp set was created just for me?

Many of you might know that I have been in a LDR (Long Distance Relationship) for nearly 6 years. What started as an online friendship many years ago, slowly but surely grew into something even more.  But the major hurdle has always been the amount of time we have had to spend apart.  He in North America, and me in Australia.  We have known though that we ultimately wanted to be together, and so we were engaged back in 2013, and we've managed to keep in touch via Skype calls, and the occasional visit to here or there.  Right now I am visiting his family in the States..... and everything is about to change as he prepares to emigrate to Australia.  We will be married in 2016 (cant wait for that Project Life project!).

So when I first saw the stamp set "Going Global" it immediately resonated with me, and I knew I had to have it! And there is a whole suite of co-ordinating products.... including the gorgeous pack of DSP you see featured on this card.  Lots of beautiful marbled designs!  The sentiment is from the Going Global stamp set and I embossed it in silver on a piece of black cardstock and punched it out with a circle punch.  I added a small amount of silver glimmer paper to add a bit of sparkle... really it is a very simple card, but that paper really has that "wow" factor!

A very Happy New Year to you all!
