Inksomniacs Blog Hop! A little Simple Stamping challenge with the Beautiful Friendship stamp set!

Howdy and welcome to our team Blog Hop this month!  You might have just hopped from Courtenay Heuston's blog and her lovely elegant card :) Our theme this time is "Simple Stamping".... and let me tell you, its more of a challenge than it sounds!  The problem is we are all long time stampers and cardmakers.... and we are very used to adding all kinds of embellishments and fluff on our cards.. not to mention using tools of every description!  Stampin'Up has been running a competition for their demonstrators, and each month they have challenged us to do a "simple stamping" card... using only the items they tell us. This month its just "stamps, ink and paper".  Sound easy right??

I noticed quite a few of us in the hop found this challenging! The urge to add MORE is always there... believe me... THE STRUGGLE IS REAL!

So today I've created a couple of little card sets just using "Stamps, Ink and Paper", and despite my discomfort, I really love them!  Maybe I should be doing more "simple stamping" projects!  And the best bit is that if you are new, you will find this a fabulous way to get started with stamping... with just the bare minimum of supplies needed.

The first one I think looks very like a Hydrangea.... which is what I was going for.  I used Highland Heather, Gorgeous Grape and Pear Pizazz inks.

And the second one reminds me of a cottage garden:

I used the same 3 inks for that one, plus So Saffron, and Coastal Cabana.   I really love how quickly they came together.

Finally I thought it would be nice to make a little video to show you how simple stamping can look really beautiful.  Click the picture below to watch the video.

Enjoy our blog hop today, and I hope that you will stop by again.  To visit our next blogger, the awesome Sue Allen,  click the NEXT button:

Video Tutorial: Scene Building with the Snow Front Stamp set

Today I have created a great tutorial to show you how to build a scene with the gorgeous soon-to-be-released stamp set called "Snow Front".  I've done scene building with the Waterfront stamp set in the past, and you can get similar effect with "Snow Front" as well, however I used a couple of different techniques today to product the effect you see above.

I made the tag first, and liked it so much I decided to create a card as well. In the video I show them in that order too.... and I hope you will agree that the result is stunning.  The video is longer than I usually make, but I think its worth it!

I've included a product list below for those that wish to purchase any of these items. The Snow Front stamp set however will not be available until September 4th, but everything else used is available right now.  And you can create with the Waterfront set in the same way.

Here is the video link.....I hope you enjoy it:

Video Tutorial: Mulitcoloured flowers with the new Pigment Sprinkles!

Today's video tutorial features our amazing new Pigment Sprinkles, which you will find in our current Annual Catalogue.  How much FUN are these to play with???!!  I used them for my technique classes this month and we had a ton of fun!

The sprinkles (AKA Watercolor Crystals) come in 6 ultra intense colours, and the best bit? They co-ordinate perfectly with some of the colours in our Brights colour family. Here are the 6 colours:

Bermuda Bay
Melon Mambo
Mango Melody
Granny Apple Green
Daffodil Delight
Gorgeous Grape

In my video I've given a few tips on using these awesome powders. They activate when you add water... giving you a multitude of different ways to play with them!  Today I chose to use them with pre-embossed images... this means that the colours swirl around the embossed images and give you lots of different colours in the process.  If you wish to purchase any of these Stampin'Up products use the SHOP NOW button on this page.

Check out the video below to see what I mean.... and of course be sure to SUBSCRIBE to my YouTube channel to see lots more techniques and ideas!

Have a fantastic day!

The Pressed Petals Specialty Paper is perfect for Vintage-style cards

Happy Monday!

This past weekend I cracked open my pack of Pressed Petals Specialty DSP and WOW!  Its so pretty!  If you are wondering what makes this paper so special its actually a couple of things... yes, its beeautifully detailed, and has lots of Vintage-inspired designs.  Its a lighter weight paper, perfect for all kinds of projects.  But the best thing?  Its double the size of the normal packs! So instead of 12 sheets in a pack, you get 24!!!  This makes it EXCELLENT value!  There are 6 different designs (front and back), and you get 4 full 12' x 12" sheets of each design!

There's also a good variety of colour.  The main colours seem to be the pinky/purply shades, but here on my card today I chose the Navy/Crumb cake combo. Its a very simple card.... I let the paper do most of the work, and just added a few details.   A yellow circle behind the sentiment to bring out the flower centres.  I embossed my sentiment with White embossing powder on Navy cardstock to make it stand out. I added some leaves cut from Gold glimmer paper, and added a little lace ribbon for that extra Vintage touch.  And thats pretty much it!  But I think you will agree its a lovely card. With that paper.. its hard to go wrong!

Here's a close up:

I've included my product list below so that you can shop for any of these (or other) items if you wish.  If you click on a product it takes you directly to my Online Store.  Have a wonderful week!
