Christmas Stamp-A-Stack on 7th August Postponed

I just wanted to pop in here quickly and let you all know that I need to postpone the Christmas Stamp-A-Stack that was planned for the 7th August. I hope that hasn't inconvenienced anyone too much, but we've had another function come up that evening and so instead that SAS night will now be held on the 26th August at 7.30pm. Come along and add to your Christmas card stash with 6 cards (3 each of 2 different designs) for $15. All materials and light refreshments provided. And don't forget that the New Mini Launch is scheduled for the 8th August (see here for details) I have 3 places left at this point, but I don't expect them to last long.

First in best dressed!

Oh, and to keep everyone happy here's a card:

I've been playing with this set again a bit lately. If you want to see another one, click here.

There's some great cards on the Elite Challenge blog. Enjoy!

Time for something totally different

... to my usual stuff. This is not my normal style of card at all.... but this is my latest submission for Kristina Werner's challenge:

I went very literal in response to her challenge. But I did get a bit creative with my punches... anyone want to guess which ones I used? There are four different ones.

Here's Kristina's original colour challenge photo:

But I had fun creating this one, so maybe when creativity is hard to find, it's not such a bad idea to go with a literal translation? Have a great day guys!

Going to a party...

.....for one of my oldest and dearest friends. Belinda and I have known each other since we worked in the Customer Service Department of Atari Computers back in the late '80s. (OMG we were such babies!) And today we are heading up to her house in the beautiful lower Blue Mountains to help her celebrate her 40th birthday. I haven't seen her for months now, so I cant wait. She is a very talented scrapbooker (having been published and awarded numerous times) and so of course i HAD to make her a card... a shop-bought card just wouldnt cut it!

Here is the card I made for her:

I used paper from the Spring Break Designer series paper set... I love these colours together. I also used my rub-ons for the word "Celebrate"...it doesn't show up well in the photo though. And I don't currently have any number stamps (I think I might need some!) so I spelled the words instead, but I really like it anyway. The box is made to match and is just the right size to hold the satin ribbon that Im giving her as well a pair of cute earrings that I found for her. I know she'll love it.

Here's the box:

I had lots of fun making these... there's something lovely about matching cards and gifts. Happy Birthday gorgeous girl, have a fabulous day!

Have a great weekend... I'll be back with my launch announcement tomorrow. :-)

Kristina's Challenge #16

Ok, so Kristina Werner's challenge this week is to use the following colours:

Aren't they great? I was pretty short on time for this week's challenge, so I did up a pretty simple card, inspired by the pic above. I used flowers instead of booties, but followed the same basic design layout for my card. Sometimes simple works well. I think this card would have been better if I had used textured Soft Sky cardstock for the background, but I love that textured cardstock so much that I have completely used up my stash. Need to order myself some more I think!

Anyway, here's my card. Hope you like it.

My Wonderful Friend

Here is the latest installment in the Kristina Werner's challenge cards. This week the inspiration came from the following picture:

And here is my card:

The close up at the top of this post shows the detail better. I find these colour challenges a bit of an adventure. Most of the time I have no idea what direction I will go in. First of all I get all the colours out on the table together and see if anything obvious screams at me. But most of the time it doesnt, and I just start playing with all the colours, and my favourite stamps of the moment. This time I thought I could use the Really Rust die-cut large circly-flower thingy from the "Round Up" Simply scrappin' pack.. I've been dying for a chance to use it, and this colour challenge was the perfect opportunity. Overall Im happy with how it all came together... it turned out to be a surprise for me too! But as luck would have it, halfway through I remembered that tomorrow I am meeting my friend Margy for a belated birthday lunch, and this card will be perfect for her. That's if I can bring myself to part with it! LOL!

Have a lovely day you guys!

By popular demand... Another Ribbon Swap

Hello everyone,

After the huge success of last month's ribbon swap I have been asked if I would please run yet another ribbon swap... but this time for the Taffeta Ribbons. I think at this point I will just do the one group... if there is plenty of interest, I may do another over the next couple of months. There are more colours available in the Taffeta ribbons than the last ribbons that we swapped, so we will have 8 people in the swap, each receiving approx 1.7m of each colour. Check out page 146 of your catalogue to see the range (or click here to view an online catalogue). Here's the deal: each participant will contribute $12.95 (the retail price of a roll of taffeta ribbon) and you will end up with 1.7m of each colour. As part of this deal I am not charging postage, so that makes it a great way to get yourself a range of ribbons in different colours.

I actually love these ribbons. At the beginning I wasn't sure... but now I use them a lot (see a couple of examples here and here and here) And that's just the one's I've shown you!

So if you are interested please dont hesitate to contact me at higgiz@bigpond.com (DON'T hit "reply" to the Feedblitz email if you receive email updates in your Inbox - I'm afraid that I wont receive it. Apparently there was a couple of people who emailed me last time, but I never received their emails. If this happened to you, Im so sorry... I promise I wasn't ignoring you!) or you can also call me on my mobile.. 0412 375 552.

It's going to be first in, best dressed on this one. It's open to any customers anywhere in Australia.

Enjoy your ribbons!

(PS... The card in the photo at the top of this post is the very beautiful "Trifold Pocket card". Not just a card.. but a beautiful project for someone extra special. I have a class running for this one AT 7.30pm on the 21st July, and at this point I still have some places left. Contact me to reserve your place - $10 per person, all materials and supper provided.)

Wanna see what we made?

Copyright 1990-2008 Stampin’ Up!

Last Thursday night I had a fully booked class of gorgeous girls come along to my first Christmas Stamp-A-Stack for 2008. Last year I ran several of these and they were a big hit... after all, you get to make 6 Christmas cards for $15, and get a fun night out into the bargain. So I've just started running them again now that (dare I say it) we are over the half-way mark through the year and therefore in the lead up to Christmas. Yes, you heard me right. Scary isn't it?

So I thought you would like to see what we made this time around. We made 3 each of the two card designs above, and I was really happy with them, as were my guests. Very simple cards, but effective. One of my guests (hello Lyn!) suggested that we add some glitter to the Christmas tree card, and I have to say that it glammed the card up and made my original one look pretty boring. So we all ended up covered in glitter, but it was worth it! Here's a closer pic to show off the glitter:

The other card doesn't have all that much stamping, but uses lots of tools... the paper Crimper, the large and small star punches, and So Swirly jumbo wheel. You can do anything when you have the right tools. And quickly too. I found these ones so quick that I think I will be making up lots of them for Christmas this year.

If you would like to come along to one of these Christmas card-making nights and get on top of your Christmas cards early, then all you need to do is email me to let me know you'll be here. I hold the classes in my home at Narara on the Central Coast of NSW. The next Christmas StampAStack is scheduled for 7th August at 7.30pm... see over on my sidebar for other upcoming classes.

Have a great weekend!
