Something Old, Something New

I love all the new stuff that we have to play with in our new catalogue. But I still like to use a lot of the old and familiar stuff too. So here's a quick card I did up this morning. I was inspired by a card that I saw in our "Impressions" magazine (that's the monthly edition that all the demonstrators receive) - quite often they showcase new techniques or ideas in there.

There was a lovely little card that showed how to use the Round Tab punch to make a larger sized hole (those of you who have been reading my blog for a while will remember that I showed this technique a while ago too)... and as I havent done that for a while, I got that punch out again. But I've made it look new by using one of the New Incolours "Soft Sky" as my base colour, and I've teamed it up with the new "Fall Flowers" double sided paper. The stamps are new too... Baroque Motifs for the focus, and then the new Polka Dot background on the base card. I also used the new Round Scallop punch. I just love having access to these tools.. it just makes it so easy to come up with cards quickly!

Dont forget that I have the Crayon Resist Class at 10.30am on the 8th May. I still have a few places left at this stage. Please feel free to contact me at higgiz@bigpond.com if you have any questions about these products or about Stampin'Up. I love answering your questions, and dealing with my wonderful customers is one of my favourite things about this business.

Enjoy the card! Here's a close up of the cut-out:

Colour Challenge

If ever you find yourself a little short in the inspiration department, a great way to overcome that is to take part in a challenge. What kind of challenge? Well... anything that takes your fancy actually. There are lots of challenges posted weekly or monthly on various internet sites, as well as in magazines and other publications. There are colour challenges, product challenges, theme challenges, sketch challenges... the list is endless! One of my favourite places to get challenged is on Kristina Werner's blog (you'll find the link over on the right hand sidebar) who this week issued a challenge to use the colours in the following picture to create a card:

The card above is what I came up with. And here's a close up of the main part of the design:

Thanks Kristina for the challenge! I find this is a great way to come up with something that you might not have done otherwise. Find a colour combo that you love and challenge yourself!

In case you are wondering the card on this page is made with my new favourite stamp set (well this week anyways) "Baroque Motifs"... Im finding it so easy to use. I used the main swirly stamp as my background, and scalloped the Pumpkin Pie strip with the Slit punch. The whole card came together in just a few minutes. Gotta love that!

Awards Night

The fabulous Georgina (my upline), myself, Shelli Gardner (founder and CEO of Stampin'Up!) and Cheryl

Hello!

I did promise last week that I would post some photos of what we got up to at Convention. More photos are emerging every day here and there, but I particularly wanted to show you the photos from the awards night... here's just a few.

The awards night is the big night for SU demonstrators. There are awards for achievement in both sales and recruiting, as well as the Incentive Trip achievers being recognized. Those of you who have been visiting my blog for a while will remember that I achieved the Incentive Trip to Palm Cove back in February. For me that was the most exciting accomplishment this year because that was my goal from the beginning. I wanted that trip! So in August this year, hubby and I will make the trip to Palm Cove in North Queensland for 5 days with 21 other demonstrators (plus 3 from New Zealand) for an all-expenses paid holiday. At the Awards Night all the trip achiever were recognized on stage with a certificate, pin and a rose. It was really lovely.

But there were more surprises to come. There is also a "Demonstrator of the year" award, which recognizes the top 25 demonstrators in Australia. My friend and downline, Cheryl Andrews, was listed at Number 21!!! Congratulations Cheryl! And I managed (somehow) to score NUMBER 6!!!! How amazing is that? Which coincidentally also makes me NUMBER 1 IN NSW!

Thank you so much all my wonderful customers who have helped to make this possible for me! I am so lucky to have so many wonderful customers and downlines... and I am still amazed that it's possible to have so much fun with SU. It's a bonus to be making money whilst doing something that I love!

Im still pinching myself! It was a really glamourous night. And now Im back to reality... changing nappies and cleaning goop out of the oven (that's another story!). Never mind... it was fun to be a celebrity for just one night!

Thanks for looking guys!

Me and Cheryl again looking fabulous

Me and Shelli sharing a joke!

Some Convention card shots

Images Copyright 1990-2008 Stampin’ Up!

As I've mentioned previously, Convention last week was an absolute blast. We got to do so much creating, learning, socializing, eating, laughing etc etc in such a short time, that it's hard to believe we fitted all that into just a couple of short days. (Note that the one thing not on this list is sleeping. ) I hope to upload some more photos over the next few days (I had camera problems and am now reliant on other people to assist me in getting more photos on here) but here's a couple of photos of some of the cards that we got to make over the weekend. These ones were from the Watercolouring class and the stamp set is the new "Fun and Fast Notes" from the new IB&C. They came up lovely and I'll definitely be using them lots. The watercolouring here was done with ink from the classic inkpads, and applied using an aquapainter. I ran a watercolouring class last month, which everyone loved, and I'll certainly do more in the future, so stay tuned.
In the meantime dont forget to email me at higgiz@bigpond.com if you have any questions, or would like to place an order. To view a catalogue click here.
I'll show you some more photos soon.

Monday's Embossing Class is full!

Just letting you all know that Monday night's embossing class is now full. Seems as though everyone loves Embossing as much as I do! So I will definitely run another Embossing class in the coming months for those that missed out this time.

:)

Class reminder...

Just a quick post to remind all you Central Coast girls about the upcoming Classes, beginning with the Embossing Class on Monday night the 21st April. We will make a couple of different projects (plus an ATC of course) and you'll get to experiment with a couple of different heat embossing techniques. Embossing makes for such elegant cards, and if you've never given it a go, then now is your chance! I still have a couple of spaces left, so if you would like a night out, and to make something beautiful as well, email me at higgiz@bigpond.com to reserve your place. Or you can call me on 0412 375 552. The cost for this class is $10.

Classes are held at my home on the Central Coast and will go for approximately 2 to 2 1/2 hours. All materials are supplied.

Above is a card that I thought you would like... It shows my beloved Paisley stamp, inked in white on the Black Cardstock, and then heat embossed with White embossing powder. Doesnt it come up lovely? This is the kind of card you will have the chance to make on Monday night. I hope to see you there!

Convention Buzz

Well, Im just back from convention tonight, and so Im checking in here really quickly and then heading off to bed. Im exhausted!

But what an amazing few days! I have the most wonderful friends and awesome support through SU... the other demonstrators that I come into touch with through this business just blow me away. Quite a large contingent travelled to Brisbane from the Central Coast, and we had a blast together! Thank you girls, you guys are amazing!

I'll tell you more about it over the next few days and will post some photos of the lovely projects that we created and some of the people that I was blessed to spend time with. One of the most special things that happened for me though was receiving several fantastic awards as part of the Awards dinner on the last night. It is a real buzz to have your efforts rewarded and to have it in front of your peers is just amazing. I'll tell you more about that when I post the photos. (I was so busy a lot of the time that I didnt take all that many photos myself, and I have to retrieve some photos from a couple of the other girls who did a lot more photo snapping than I did.)

So I'll post again real soon.

April/May Classes

Hello Everyone,

I've been deliberating over my class schedule for a few days now... the problem with April is that we have School holidays as well as the Anzac Day long weekend, so I am not available as much this month as usual. So rather than just announce 1 class for April, Im going to do May as well.

Here we go...

Monday 21st April 7.30pm - Embossing workshop. Learn some cool things you can do with embossing powders and a heat tool. $10 per person

Thursday 8th May 10.30am - Crayon Resist. - by special request I am doing this class again for those that couldnt make the evening workshop last month. This is one of my absolute favourite techniques and everone who did it last month just loved it. $10 per person

Tuesday 20th May 7.30pm - New stuff class. By now many of you will have noticed that there is lots of new stuff in our gorgeous new Catalogue. So this is a special class to show you some gorgeous new tools and how to use them. For example you will learn what to do with the Cropadile and jumbo eyelets, and I'll show you how to dye the Pretties kit flowers - just to mention a few of the products you'll be using. $20 per person.

You will make 3 projects in each class, and all materials are supplied.

And just quickly, I'm heading off to Brisbane this afternoon... our annual Stampin'Up! convention is on over the next few days, and I just cant wait! We'll be learning some new techniques and sharing ideas and getting lots of new information. (And just hanging out with each other... there are about 10 of us going just from the Central Coast).

So I wont be posting here for a few days. Feel free to email me to book into classes, and I will be sure to get back to you on my return.

Have a great weekend guys... I know I will! (I'll have some photos to show you next week)

Happy Stamping!

Grab a bargain! All my discontinued Stamp sets Reduced...

Hello Everyone,

Now that the new Stampin'Up year is upon us (the SU year runs from 1st April until 31st March the following year) I am getting rid of all my discontinued sets. If I can no longer demo them, then I have made a business decision to clear them off my shelves to make way for lovely new stuff now available in the New catalogue. (I have 12 brand new FREE sets coming to me in the next week or so, so I need to make some space!) Some of the old sets I do feel a little sentimental about and it will be sad to see them go, but I have enough to keep me distracted in the new catalogue, so I will survive. I think.

For the last couple of months I have had some of my customers coming along to my house or contacting me to reserve many of my sets. More than half my stock is already gone... but that means that I do still have quite a few sets left. So I thought that I would list the remaining sets here, and if there is something that you would like to grab, please contact me at higgiz@bigpond.com or call me on 0412 375 552. It will be first in, first served. I will update the list here as each set goes so that you know which sets remain.

This is what I have left:

I am also selling off the last of my 2007-2008 Idea Book and Catalogues for $6 each, if anyone wants them for the ideas and projects.

I will have these items available until 13th April or until sold out - whichever happens first. Please note that I have extended this offer until April 25th.

Please contact me if you are after something on this list. The items here have been discontinued and you can no longer purchase them from Stampin'Up. So this may be your last chance.

In the meantime, Im hoping you will enjoy this card I made yesterday... I used it at a workshop today to demonstrate Markers. Markers are one of my favourite items on the SU product list, and I never tire of using them. I really love all the different effect you can get. The stamp set used for the main flower is Petal Prints, and it's such a versatile set. It's not been discontinued thankfully!

Happy stamping!

It's Here!

This week has been a bit of a blur so it's taken me a few days to get back on here. Never mind, here we are!

And I wanted to get this link up so that you can all go and click happily on all the new stuff (unless of course you have been lucky enough to score yourself an actual copy already) so get yourself a cuppa and then click here

And enjoy!

I am completely besotted with the new Double Stitched ribbons (see page 146) and the new Designer Series papers (on pages 134-136) - check out the price on those. I challenge you to find anything close to that quality for those prices! The Rhinestone brads are divine (love the colours) and I cant wait to get my hands on the cropadile. (Not a bad price either!) Oh and the new punches are calling my name. Im in serious trouble, so why am I so happy about it? LOL!

I've already placed a nice order for myself, so I cant wait to get some new stuff and get creating so that I can put up some gorgeous new samples for you to look at.

See you soon!
